Lineos platform for the Office of the CFO unifies fragmented finance data and workflows to help teams surface actionable insights and make faster decisions
- While 58% of finance professionals can now create reports without IT support, only 53% receive fast insights that support timely decisions, revealing a critical gap between data access and decision readiness.
- Fear of job displacement has become the number one barrier to AI adoption in finance, rising seven percentage points year-over-year to 20%, as organizations shift from skepticism about technology to concerns about human impact.
- Lineos unifies fragmented finance data across planning, reporting, close, consolidation, and compliance, using AI to help finance teams move from data validation to strategic decision-making.
RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 16, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Lineos, the new brand for the Office of the CFO, today launched an AI-driven platform to address the fragmented data and disconnected workflows slowing financial decision-making. Also launched today, the 2026 Lineos State of AI in Finance report finds that 86% of finance professionals face at least one barrier to turning available financial data into actionable insights. The most cited barriers are data fragmentation (23%), a lack of real-time data (19%), and difficulty validating or trusting data (18%), revealing a persistent gap between data access and decision readiness.
“The real challenge for finance isn’t access to data anymore; it’s turning that data into clarity,” said Jennifer Warawa, President, Lineos. “When information is fragmented across systems and workflows, finance loses valuable time connecting the dots instead of using those insights to guide the business. Lineos clears the path from data to decision, helping finance move beyond reporting what happened to shaping what happens next.”
Lineos offers a unified, AI-powered platform that connects the full finance workflow, from planning and forecasting to close, compliance and reporting, to surface insights that drive action. Lineos empowers teams to work more efficiently, improve decision-making, and shift from chasing numbers to shaping strategy.
Why isn’t better data access alone translating into better insights?
Although 58% of finance professionals now say it is easy to create reports without IT, up 10 percentage points from 48% in 2025, only 53% say they get fast insights that completely or very much support timely decisions, with just 13% say they do so completely.
How is fragmented data affecting finance teams?
Fragmented data creates friction across everyday finance workflows. Thirty percent of finance professionals cite time-consuming workarounds as their biggest frustration with outdated financial planning, close, and reporting solutions, while 18% cite a lack of integration.
The consequences extend to the business with 38% citing wasted time between results and execution as the biggest impact of delayed analysis, while 20% point to missed revenue or opportunity.
What prevents finance teams from confidently using AI?
“To understand the impact of AI, consider what it’s like when you have someone working with paper next to someone working with Excel,” said Nicolas Boucher, AI Finance Coach and Expert. “The person with Excel will work faster, and it’s the same with AI. But to truly leverage AI in finance, you have to connect the dots technology can’t, adding uniquely human value. Without that, you’re just a commodity.”
While 68% of finance professionals believe AI could improve the accuracy of financial data, only 36% completely or mostly trust AI-generated outputs in financial workflows, and 60% say they always or often double-check AI-driven insights before acting on them.
Concerns are also becoming more human. Fear of job displacement rose seven percentage points year-over-year to 20%, becoming the top barrier to AI adoption. Meanwhile, just 12% now cite a lack of understanding of AI, down five percentage points from 2025. This finding suggests the challenge is shifting from understanding AI to trusting its outputs and managing its impact on finance teams.
“AI adoption can’t just be a technology decision; it has to be a people strategy,” said Warawa. “With job displacement now the top concern, CFOs need to be clear about the role AI should play. It means taking work off people’s plates, not taking people out of the process, so finance can focus on the higher value work the business needs.”
What do finance teams want from modern financial systems?
The research shows growing demand for finance technology that connects data and gives teams greater control:
- 73% of finance professionals prioritize minimizing manual errors in integrated solutions
- 71% consider control and self-service access without relying on IT as very or extremely important
- 61% want to reduce duplicative tasks
- 49% identify shorter planning and close cycles as a key benefit
Together, the findings identify a clear mandate for CFOs: connect finance data and workflows without sacrificing the control, accuracy, and self-service capabilities teams increasingly expect.
