Solstice Energy Unveils 1-Gigawatt Community Solar Initiative to Power 250,000 Homes

Five-year program prioritizes low-income communities and creates an estimated 4,500 local jobs

DENVER, Colo. — May 31, 2026 — Solstice Energy, a renewable-power developer, today announced its largest initiative to date: a five-year, 1-gigawatt community solar program designed to deliver clean, affordable electricity to 250,000 households across eight states. At least 40 percent of the program’s capacity is reserved for low- and moderate-income communities.

Community solar allows residents and small businesses to subscribe to a shared solar facility and receive credits on their utility bills, without installing panels on their own roofs. Solstice’s program removes upfront costs and credit-score requirements that have historically limited participation.

Program Details

The first phase will break ground in late 2026 with projects in Colorado, New Mexico, and Minnesota, followed by expansion into five additional states by 2031. Solstice will partner with local workforce-development organizations to train and hire from within the communities it serves, with a target of filling at least half of all construction roles locally.

Community Benefits

Subscribers are projected to save an average of 10 to 15 percent on their annual electricity costs. The program includes a dedicated fund to support community grants for energy-efficiency upgrades and local environmental projects.

Partnerships
